1964 Francis Barnett Cruiser 89 Villiers 2T EngineFrancis Barnett Cruiser 89 - 1964 - Villiers 2T Engine - Fully Restored

I have owned the bike for eleven years and have used it every year to attend local shows and to take part in the local V.M.C.C. club runs. In the summer of 2010 my wife and I used it on a trip to the Isle of Man where it carried the two of us around the island for a week and performed well with no problems.

The bike was restored some years ago and is still in very good condition. The paint and chrome, including the exhausts and silencers is almost unmarked. The wheel rims and spokes are good quality stainless steel, as are most of the bolts and fixings.

It has been converted to 12V electrics and has electronic ignition fitted, making it an easy starter and a reliable runner. There is a spare ignition module with the bike, but it has never been needed.

I have the original brown log book showing that the bike was first registered to the North Yorkshire Police Force with the registration number 842 GVN. The engine and frame numbers match the corresponding entries in the original log book.

The registration number is still on the bike and is transferable. The number has been valued at between £850 and £1500 pounds, depending on which site you visit.

There is a large file of paperwork with the Francis Barnett, including the aforementioned brown log book, dozens of old MOT certificates and tax discs. There are also copies of contemporary road tests, engine strip and recondition articles, handbook and spare parts list.

There was a small split in the seam of the dual seat cover of about one inch long. It was repaired 3-4 years ago and is almost invisible.

If you want a classic motorcycle that you can use straight away and keep on using with just the basic maintenance that you could park in any line up of classic bikes and not be disgraced, then this may be the bike for you.
