Sellers original description:
In 1960, Harley Davidson needing a range of lightweight m/cycles to compete with the growing threat from Japan, bought 50% of the Italian Aermacchi concern rebadging their bikes as Aermacchi/Harley Davidson. In 1969 AMF (American Machine & Foundry) took control of Harley, bought the remainder of Aermacchi & marketed the bikes as AMF Harley Davidson. Throughout Harley's involvement the bikes continued to be produced at the original factory near Varese in Italy until production of the fourstroke range ceased in 1974.
Rare 1972 AMF Harley Davidson SS350 (Aermacchi) imported from America & registered with an age related no. plate, in almost standard spec. With matching engine/frame no.'s. The engine, although mechanically noisy, ticks over smoothly & revs cleanly without any excessive smoke & has covered over 400mls. in the last few months trouble free, the gearbox & clutch are both fine. The electrical charging system is the original 6v. in working order although ocassionally it can be a temperamental starter. The overall cosmetic condition is very clean & attractive but not immaculate, having been repainted sometime in the past to a good standard & often gains admiring comments at shows.
