Sellers original description:
Yamaha Fs1-e pedal model, 1973, Candy gold. Matching numbers. 394-008***
Found 18 months ago in a farm outhouse in North Yorkshire where it had lived, unloved for 36 years.
Previous owner had lost paperwork, so a dating certificate has been supplied by North Leicester Motorcycles confirming year/model/colour. Registered on a local age related 1973 'L' registration number in February this year after an 18 month concours rebuild using as much of the original bike as possible.
Frame/swinging arm powdered to high standard, original tank/side panels/shock tops from original bike, repainted by local classic specialist spray shop in fantastic candy gold as per original bike. Although when found the bike had been hand painted in black, the original paint colour was underneath.
Engine has had total rebuild, including crank/con rod/piston/barrel and head, along with gear selector shaft, all seals and bearings. Standard clutch plates/springs renewed, and remember how much you weighed when you were 16! If you are going to ride this period moped and you are now 16 stone, you may need to upgrade the springs to pull you along!!!
Speedometer has had a total rebuild, rechromed and zero'd for new owner.
Yamaha rims and spokes replaced around original powdered hubs, with new brake shoes, and correct tread pattern tyres as Yamaha fitted in 1973.
Handlebars from Yamaha as is front mudguard, with just the seat, rear guard and exhaust being patterns.
Quite an early frame number which means it could have been an SS, but because convincing proof has not been sourced, ive badged it as an Fs1-e.
