1985 Honda Gyro X Three Wheel 50 cc Moped
(Featured on 10th April 2013)
Model: Gyro X
Registration: B761 RLP
Sellers original description:
This is one of the strangest vehicles that I have ever owned. I've had it since June 2011 (I believe that it was imported by the previous owner in October 2010), and it certainly attracts a lot of attention every time I ride it. People point and wave (...I think they're being polite?) and most importantly- they laugh.
It rides just like a 2 wheeler because it tilts over the rear wheels, so don't think you can ride it if you have no sense of balance.
And no... it's not a mobility scooter.
One of my kids thinks it's cute. The other thinks it's ugly. It's definitely ... both. And weird.
It has a 2 stroke engine similar to the Honda Vision etc, with Electric and Kick starts. 12 volt electrics, of course.
This model was never intended for the UK market, but the parts that I have ordered so far (drive belt, drive rollers etc) have come very quickly via Tippetts motors (0208 3902128). Don't know if you'd have as much luck with body panels though.
I used it to commute approx 5 miles each way on fine days in the spring and summer... so yes- it can be used as a daily ride -but that's not really the point of it. It's a good example of a rare 'bike... If you want a commuter please buy something more suitable!
